Terms of Service

Last updated: April 9, 2026

1. Service

commitplain (“the Service”) is a web application that reads GitHub commit metadata and generates executive reports for delivery to clients. By using commitplain, you agree to these terms.

2. Acceptable use

You may use commitplain to generate reports for your own professional projects and client relationships. You may not:

  • Use the service to access repositories you do not have authorization to read.
  • Resell or redistribute the service without a written agreement.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or overload the platform.
  • Generate reports containing false, misleading, or defamatory content.

3. Subscription and billing

commitplain offers monthly subscriptions (Indie and Agency plans). Billing is handled by Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period. You may cancel at any time from your account settings — cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period and you retain access until then.

4. Free trial

New accounts receive a 7-day free trial with access to all plan features. No credit card is required to start the trial. After the trial ends, you must choose a paid plan to continue generating reports.

5. Data ownership

You own the commit data and the reports generated from it. commitplain does not claim any rights over your content. We store reports on your behalf and delete them when your account is closed.

6. Service availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We are not liable for losses resulting from service outages, GitHub API limitations, or changes to GitHub's OAuth scopes. We will notify users of planned maintenance in advance when possible.

7. Limitation of liability

commitplain is provided “as is.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service. Our liability is limited to the amount paid in the 3 months preceding the claim.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will notify registered users by email at least 14 days before material changes take effect. Continued use of the service after that date constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
